When they were 14, Toronto high school friends Steve “Lips” Kudlow and Robb Reiner made a pact to play rock together forever. Their band Anvil (“Anvil”) became the “demigod of Canadian rock” when they released one of the “heaviest” albums in metal history, “Metal on Metal,” in 1982.

This album influenced an entire generation of musicians – Metallica, Slayer and Anthrax – who went on to sell millions of copies of their records. But Anvil’s career took a different path – straight into oblivion.
