Many of you have been requesting RICHARD MARX 1987’s self-titled debut album in remastered form or high quality SHM-CD pressing. Well, “Richard Marx” never has been remastered, nor released on SHM-CD.

But this Japanese edition as second press / re-release as part of the ‘Super Masters‘ series from 1990 sounds terrific. It really blows out of the water the other CD versions out there.
Grammy award winning songwriter, singer and producer, Richard Marx has sold more than 30 million albums worldwide and has landed a number 1 song on the charts in each of the past four decades, as an artist or as a writer.
“Richard Marx” resulted a smash success, triple-platinum and scoring four top 40 singles, and the cream of LA session play on this album. Everybody likes the songs on “Richard Marx” – from popsters to metalheads…

”Richard Marx” is a finely crafted record of mainstream pop&rock / lite AOR. Marx understood how the melodies of uptempo rockers like “Don’t Mean Nothin’” are driven by thick power chords, and how arrangements are as important as melody in ballads like “Hold On to the Nights.”

Filled with carefully constructed radio-ready tracks, it was no surprise that the album became a huge hit.
They don’t make albums like this anymore. And this Japanese pressing of ”Richard Marx” it’s a really good one.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
