Five years after their comeback album “A Time Of Crisis”, the Americans HERETIC are back. Standing out in the mass of today’s thrash combos is difficult even for old hands. But even if the record seems to be just another one of many at the beginning, the band reveals a few facets of their own over the course of “A Game You Cannot Win”.

This includes Julian Mendez’s vocals in particular, as they show strong power metal influences. These are also noticeable in one or two guitar melodies. As a result, the song material occasionally even moves in the direction of ICED EARTH and is solid throughout. Only the ballad-like “Never Added Up” stands out stylistically.
