The Allman Brothers Band were initially not happy with their first two releases, but they were able to correct the production mistakes only 40 years later. On April 29, a DVD will go on sale, followed by an audio recording of the famous concerts in New York 5 years ago. Then, at the Allmans’ favorite concert venue, the Beacon Theatre, on the 26th of March 2009, they played the entire material of the debut (1969) and subsequent (1970) records, made under pressure from the producer in a sound they did not want.

In his memoirs, Gregg Allman admitted that the group was removed from the mixing process during the recording of the first disc, and the sound was “set” as on Elvis’s singles for his “Heartbreak Hotel”. The studio in New York, from his point of view, was completely unsuitable for their material, and the producer not only did not allow them to “settle in” and play out in an unusual environment, but after a hasty recording, he stuffed a banknote into the pockets of each of the musicians’ shirts, sending them away get out of the studio. The album turned out to be ill-conceived, with crude arrangements, says Gregg. “Idlewild South,” the second LP, was created under different conditions, but there are many things on it that deserve improvement, Gregg said.

Now the 15 tracks of the new DVD-CD box are released in the form… in which the public has known them for more than 40 years, but in the presentation of a completely different group (of the same name). First of all, in the absence of half of the founders – the deceased Duane Allman and Berry Oakley, as well as the “fired” Richard Batts (the characters of the upcoming release are Gregg Allman, Butch Trucks, Jaimoe Oakley, Warren Haynes, Derek Trucks, Oteil Burbridge, Marc Quinones).
